Yoga Class Descriptions:
Hatha
Yoga (Beginner/Level 1)
In Hatha yoga classes,
traditional yoga postures, breathing techniques, and meditations are taught
according to the classic yoga practices outlined in the Yoga Sutras of
Patanjali. Basics classes are designed to help the student to develop body
awareness through step-by-step detail, focused attention on body alignment, and
the connection between physical, intellectual, & spiritual energy.
Excellent for beginners and all students interested in developing a basic
understanding of yoga postures, basic meditation, and simple philosophies.
Hatha
Yoga (Multi-level)
Multi-level
classes follow a more intense pace than Beginner/Level 1 classes &
include advanced variations & inversions (handstands, headstands, etc.)
for students ready to advance their knowledge of asana (postures) and challenge
their physio-emotional stamina. Excellent for students interested in
evolving the foundation postures and philosophies into life applications.
“Nataraja”
Vinyasa
Quickly becoming
our most popular class, Nataraja Vinyasa classes are multi-level classes that
follow a more intense pace than Hatha Yoga classes & include both
foundation postures and their advanced variations, with binding &
inversions (handstands, headstands, etc.). Students learn to transition
from one posture level to another in sequences that build upon one another
to develop mindfulness, and a deeper understanding of how the body
moves. Unlike more conventional
vinyasa classes, nataraja vinyasa sequneces are carefully choreographed to include
flowing transitions, movement within long-holding postures and an intertwining of philosophy, mantra, and
meditation techniques so students learn to take a mindful practice of yoga
into their lives. 90 minute classes.
PRE-REQUISITE: A strong ability to perform postures, a developing knowledge
of posture names (English & Sanskrit), and knowledge of modifications. May
not be suitable for beginners.
Yin-Restorative
Yin-Restorative
is a gentle yoga class with long-holding stretches and highly relaxing
postures perfect for reducing stress, healing the body, and blissing out
the mind. We barely make it off the floor with this class. No experience
necessary. All Levels welcome.
